STORY
In this story we follow EL, an artist who is battling chronic physical and emotional pain, as she attempts to understand what ails her. Invasive testing, cold, dismissive doctors, and a far too chipper roommate, combined with the crippling pain, bring our protagonist to the edge of her sanity during her search for answers.
NEWS
In July, 2024, Ow premiered at The Los Angeles International Festival of Short Films, where it took the awards for Outstanding Achievement by an Actor and Immaculate Heart Community Filmmaker.
In September 2024, it screened at the Eastwood Performing Arts Center and Lady Filmmakers Film Festival, where it received Honorable Mention.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Writer, star, and co-director Laura Delhauer wanted to share her confusing, frightening, painful, though occasionally hilarious experience dealing with reproductive ailments. In 2023, she teamed with her partner and co-director Jack Merline to create this semi-autobiographical short film. Through it, Laura is bringing awareness to the ignorance and biases in the medical industry surrounding female health, as well as providing hope and information to those suffering from similar physical problems.
